with gathering wonder, by brent haddock, 11×15.5 intaglio-type etching with hand coloring, $300 unframed

This etching was inspired by a self portrait of Rembrandt, the artist responsible for many intaglio techniques. This was a good direction for an old printmaker who is tired of trying to make reticulated washes using tusche (a greasy substance) on limestone. I chose to make a reticulated wash using copy machine toner (used is best) that is mixed with Future floor wax and rubbing alcohol. This mixture is painted as a wash on mylar film. When dry, the toner reticulates creating marvelous patterns and textures. I chose a new method and included an old friend as a respected subject. ~ brent
